Today Craigmeur Ski club experienced a beautiful bike ride on the Columbia trail that started at High Bridge, NJ. Everybody had a great time and enjoyed the scenery on the trail. We stopped at several areas to rest and chat. After the bike ride, we went to the Circa restaurant which was a one minute walk from the parking area. The restaurant offered an excellent menu choice.

Many people complemented me on how well the trip worked out. I had planned it so that the more advanced riders would  end the trip at the same time as the intermediate riders. MaryAnne jokingly disputed that I had planned this. I had, but it was dumb luck that it worked out.

The funniest part of the trip was discovering that Mike had an annoying bell on his bike. He claimed that he had it to scare bears away. Hans joked that he hoped that a bear would attack him to kill the bell. Never the less, we had no bear sightings, nor I have ever seen a bear on that trail for as long as I have biked it.

Photos have been added to this post.

2006 Craigmeur Ski Club, High Bridge Bike Ride on the Columbia Trail. (Photo Collection)

The Craigmeur Ski Club is truly blessed to have such a well connected trip coordinator. Larry’s in with Father Time, The National Weather Service, and The French Culinary Institute made this bike tour a portrait of perfection in bold strokes. Leaving no stone unturned, Larry even secretly commissioned skier/cyclist Mike to protect everyone from ongoing surprise bear attacks. This trip is just one example of Craigmeur’s legacy of well executed and safe excursions into the wilderness.

Thanks Larry.
