Today the club received an informative seminar on bicycle technology from Fred, proprietor of Bicycle 15 Outlet, Lakeside Shopping Center, Lake Hopatcong, NJ

Fred spoke about the different bikes that are now available and their construction. Better mountain bike frames are now manufactured with aluminum and tig welded together and can have as many as 27 speeds. Better racing bike frames are made with carbon fiber. Hard tail mountain bikes have no suspension on the back, but may have a telescopic fork on the front end.

During the seminar, Diane Bogert, asked why her wrists get tired during a bike ride. Fred explained that type of fatigue is known as the “death grip.” He explained that sometimes repositioning the handle bar and seat height can help alleviate that problem.

Amazingly we can all buy a similar racing bike that Lance Armstrong used to win the Tour de France. Lance used strictly an off the shelf bike. Many fine bikes may be found at the Bicycle 15 Outlet.
