Tuxedo Ridge has been offering free skiing from March 2nd through the end of the season.  On Saturday, March 10 the Hollisters (Jim, Kimberly, Russell, and Meredith) and the Yombors (Chris, Anne, Jake, and Killian) tried it out.

It was a great place to teach the kids.  Jake (3), Russell(3), and Meredith (1) were all skiing on harnesses and could go down all the open trails.  The mountain is small – 6 trails in all – 4 were open over the weekend with 2 of 4 lifts running.  The baselodge (cafeteria, bar, and warming hut) are right at the bottom of the chairs – very easy to go in and out.  On the 10th they had a fun race where the winner would get a $25 gift certificate for the mountain – Chris Yombor entered and smoked the competition so Yombor’s had dinner on the mountain.

We, the Hollister’s liked it so much we went back on March 11th, March 17th, and 18th (Yombor’s joined us again on the 18th and we took the picture above).

Skiing is free for the rest of the season, so are rentals but from what we saw you would be better off renting somewhere else – the skis and boards they have are all new and nice but they ran out quickly (because its free).  They also have tubing for $12/hour.  They are offering a 3 year season pass for $300 – we bought them for us (Jim and Kimberly) and the kids will get comp under 5 passes.  From Denville it was a 40-45minute drive – about 8 miles from exit 15A on the Thurway – very easy to get to – not that crowded even with the free skiing!  Check it out next weekend – you’ll probably see us there on Sunday!
