Feb 28 – March 7, 2009

(We leave on a Saturday and return on Saturday 6 nights with 5 days of skiing)

Alta & Snowbird – Home of the Deep Powder

Photo 2 Photo 3

Photo 1 Snow Conditions: It is important to consider snow conditions. Alta and Snowbird offer the best deep powder conditions on the planet. However, if the weather gets warm for a few days as it can in late March and early April the deep powder turns to mash-potatoes and is not ski-able. This trip is planned for late February and the first week of March giving us the best opportunity for deep powder and good ski conditions.

Additional benefits are:

  • Deposits are partially refundable
  • You may arrange your own airfare. (i.e use frequent flyer miles)
  • Save money on food by sharing the cost and cooking in the Chalet.
    • The food would be ordered in advance and delivered to the lodge
    • We would all eat in the largest Chalet. Everyone would be responsible to help cook one night’s dinner. Chefs plan their own dinner menu in advance. (Example: spaghetti works for me and feeds many as do hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill)
    • Restaurants are very expensive in ski resort area’s
  • Ski In – Ski Out lodging. The Chalet’s are located about 200 yards from a trail where you can ski down to the chair lift.
  • Chalets also offer the benefit of dining together and evening parting in the Chalet. Bring your music.

Air Travel: I have reserved flights via Continental leaving from Newark and arriving in Salt Lake City. The RT cost is $587.92. This includes Fuel Surcharges and taxes. This reservation expires soon, if we do not send a deposit.
Transportation: I will arrange for a bus to take us to Alta, about a 3/4 hour away. Cost $58 RT
Lodging: I will rent a large lodge (maybe Two). They sleep between 10 – 16 people each. Depending on the lodge and the number of people, the cost is $100 – $125 per person, per night.

Estimated Cost:
Air $587
Lodging $600 (based on approximately 16 – 24 people in Chalet’s.
Results in $100 per night each)
Transportation $58 (RT transport from Airport to Chalet and back)
Food $50 based on 16 people = $800 for food (Huge savings)
Lift ticket $300 (approximately $60 per day X 5 days, for Multi Mt. Pass)
Total = $1,595 pp

In order to insure the airfare and lodging we need to reserve these two items NOW. Many of the Chalets have already been renting for the week we are planning to go. Remember you can cancel and receive a refund of most of your deposit. I need a $150 deposit each ASAP.
NOTE: If you are planning on using the Chalet, but arranging your own airfare and transportation, your deposit is only $100.00

Cancellation policy:
You can cancel as late as November 20th and receive a refund. Cancellations after Nov. 20 will receive smaller refunds. Cancellations 60 days prior to departure receive no refunds.
