Happy New Year ! Hard to believe 2011 is over and we have begun 2012 ! The weather conditions have been a challenge to say the least but Vermont resorts are open and welcoming skier & boarders to the slopes. Let’s all do our favorite snow dance or pagan sacrifice to encourage Mother Nature to bring winter back in full force.

Here is a truly inspiring story that is happening right in Craigmeur’s neighborhood:

If you attended the 2011 Jamboree, you may have met Staci Mannella. Staci is a partially-sighted alpine skier who lives in Randolph, NJ and she is working towards qualifying as a team member of the US Para-Olympics Alpine Ski Team for the 2014 Winter Olympic in Sochi Russia. We are all familiar with the inconveniences caused by Hurricane Irene back in September. Unfortunately many of our Vermont hosts suffered severe devastation to their homes and businesses and many are still working to recover. Money spent by our club members while visiting Vermont go a long way towards helping the recovery. Not everyone impacted in Vermont directly benefits from our dollars spent there. To provide help to those in Vermont who still need it, NJSC has created a fund to collect money & provide direct aid to those still in need. Please see the attached flyer. If you are interested in learning more about NJSC, are curious as to how it functions, or you would like to volunteer some time, please seek me out at any regular club meeting & I will be happy to discuss it with you. Ken Fox has volunteered to assist me with NJSC administrative and voucher functions as his time permits. I am looking for a regular apprentice to learn the ropes, who can fill in when I have other obligations. Of course, everyone is welcome to help out.

NJSC Guidebook has been published and I have secured a few more copies at the January 2012 meeting. If you would like a copy, please ask me at any regular meeting.

Our club listing page has also been up-dated to reflect the most current contact information. Please take a look and advise if any changes need to be made.

NJSC membership stickers for the 2011-2012 season have been delivered to Craigmeur’s membership chair and will be placed on the back of your Craigmeur membership card when you renew your dues. Show this sticker to retailers / resorts / restuarants in ski country or anywhere else you patronize to let them know you are a member of NJSC and would like to enjoy any discounts they offer to NJSC members.

When patronizing retailers / resorts / restuarants in ski country or anywhere else, remember to show your Club membership card with the NJSC member sticker to inquire about discounts and deals. Also check the new NJSC web site for additional point of sale discounts under the “Membership Direct” heading.

NJSC Discount Vouchers – Vouchers are available for advance purchase thru Chris Budd at any Craigmeur meeting. Payments are taken upon sign up. FIRM sign-up cutoff / voucher delivery dates as follows:

cut-off 01/25/2012 – delivery February 15, 2012

A determination will be made in February 2012 whether vouchers will be available beyond the last delivery date. Weather and participation will be determining factors.

I guess this report is better late than never. NJSC vouchers are available, SkiVT discounts are sold out and the NJSC Jamboree is upon us – Friday November 04 7pm at the Hanover marriott, Route 10 East.

NJSC expects the Guidebook publication will be completed in October. NJSC plans to have the 2011-2012 Guidebook copy available at the NJSC Jamboree, November 04, 2011 at The Hanover Marriott. I will also have copies of the guidebook after the November NJSC meeting.

NJSC Jamboree – Friday November 04, 2011 at the Hanover Marriott, Route 10 East. Exhibits will run from 7pm – 10pm, dance party & social mixer will run from 9pm – closing (midnight-ish). Admission & parking are free. There is an Irish pub on premises to purchase a meal if you are hungry or a beverage if you are thirsty.

Ski Skills Tune Up Day – Saturday December 10, 2011 @ Windham Mtn.

NJSC has published prices for 2011-2012 resort ski vouchers. Be sure to come to any Club meeting to obtain pricing info, complete sign up & submit payment for vouchers. See Chris Budd for additional details.

To aid you in making plans, please note important dates that pertain to voucher purchases as follows:

The days are getting shorter, the nights are becoming (much) cooler, that can only mean ski season is quickly approaching. Welcome Back to the 2011-2012 NJSC / Craigmeur ski season.

NJSC Voucher Returns

Hello All -

Please make sure all 2010-2011 vouchers are returned to Chris Budd as soon as possible. NJSC is pressing for early returns and the club is trying to give everyone enough time to get their vouchers turned in.

Bring your left over vouchers to this weeks’ or next weeks’ meeting. If you cannot make either meeting, please notify Chris Budd via email – skijcb “at” hotmail.com and he will provide a snail mail address.

Don’t let your vouchers lapse and become merely souvenirs ! Get them turned in for credit toward next years vouchers.

NJSC – URGENT – GORE, JAY & SUGARBUSH RETURNS

I have been informed via email from NJSC that Gore, Jay Peak and Sugarbush vouchers need to be returned to NJSC by Monday April 11, 2011.

I understand this is VERY short notice but there is nothing I can do.

Please bring your Gore / Jay / Sugarbush vouchers to the April 06 meeting or drop them in the mail TODAY directly to my attention:

NJSC APRIL 2011 VOUCHER RETURNS

It’s that time of year again, when the snow is gone from NJ (but not VT) and thoughts turn to bikes, golf and warm weather outdoor activities.

For all Craigmeur members holding 2010-2011 ski vouchers, be advised the cut-off for voucher return credit is Wednesday May 04, 2011.

Bring your left over vouchers to any regular club meeting between now and May 04 and turn them in to Chris Budd to ensure you receive credit towards purchase of 2011-2012 vouchers.

If you cannot make a meeting, please email Chris Budd (skijcb@hotmail.com) to obtain snail mail instructions.

Failure to return vouchers by May 04 will result in your vouchers having a ZERO cash / up-grade value. Don’t leave money on the table, get your vouchers back in time !

Now if anyone has knowledge of golf discount offers, it’s time to share those with club members …. FORE !!

Hello All -

Holiday celebrations and vacations are upon us but you STILL haven’t purchased vouchers for January 2011 delivery ?? Meet Chris Budd at The Exchange Wednesday 12/22 between 7:30 – 9:00pm to place your NJSC vouchers order for January 12 2011 delivery. This round includes Vermont and Pennsylvania area vouchers

For those of you who have up-grades from last year or placed October & November orders, come by & pick up your vouchers to use now and the last week of 2010 for holiday skiing & boarding. Of course ALL vouchers can be used through the end of the 2010-2011 ski season.
