      • - Reservations will be processed to maximize occupancy at the Lodge in a first come first serve basis.

      • - Please note if your email is received prior to 12:00am you will be moved to the end of the list

Bring your SKIS/BOARDS Wednesdays for TUNING!

Posted by Diane Bogert on November 16th, 2009

SkiBoard

BRING YOUR SKIS/BOARDS WEDNESDAYS:

BRING YOUR SKIS and/or BOARDS.  Roy has contacted John and Mark from Pabst Ski Tuning Service.  Our guest speakers introduced their ski tuning service and valet pick up service for skis and boards during our meeting November 18th.  Skis and snowboards will be tuned with the latest state of the art equipment using the Wintersteiger tuning machine.  Afterwards your snow equipment will be returned to you at the following meeting.  They have very reasonable prices and offer free valet service. Skis or boards picked up each week will be returned at the following meeting. We must have a minimum of 4 pairs of skis or 4 boards or any combination for the valet service.  So, bring your equipment on Wednesdays during regular club meetings.  We had a fantastic response on November 18th and rumors have it others will be bringing their skis at the next scheduled meeting December 2nd.

Thank you to Roy Spierer for setting this up!

BIKE NEW YORK (5 Borough Bike Run) Sunday May 3rd

Posted by Diane Bogert on May 5th, 2009

What a day! We started out pretty good on Wadsworth Avenue in Staten Island. The first group left and some made it to the 6:00am Ferry. Then some made the 6:30am Ferry. Then we heard someone made the “NEXT” Ferry. By this time some of the group had taken off onto the ride. Once we got going on the ride most stayed together the first 20 miles “or so.” The rain was light for most of the first half. The second half proved to be more “wet.” By the time we returned to Wadsworth Avenue (1:30pm) most of the group had already left having returned just after noon and some were just sitting in their cars awaiting the remainder riders. We were wet, cold and exhausted. All in all I would do it again next year even under these weather conditions. We came for the ride with the high hopes of a BBQ afterwards, BUT the “RIDE” is still the “RIDE!”

Good to see you all once again …. Even at those ridiculous hours of the morning!

Ski Trip Up For Grabs!

Posted by Larry Ticotin, Webmaster on February 9th, 2009

Great Trip to Snowbird, March 14-21 up for grabs.  Due to a recent and unexpected surgery we are unable to go on a trip that was paid for and booked almost a year ago.  We would like to offer this trip to our friends.  The cost is $1040 per person (double occupancy, less for triple and quad).  This includes a 7 day stay at The Cliff Lodge, a five star amazing hotel, and 6 day lift ticket to Snowbird.  This price includes a whole lot more too: ground transportation to and from the airport, St. Patty’s day dinner party (DJ & dancing), inclusion in a club Nastar race, huge lift discounts to Alta….and even more.  Check out the Cliff Lodge on-line.  The site doesn’t do the rooftop spa justice!  The trip was booked as part of a group trip and is way below wholesale.  The only thing not included is airfare…which is now less than what we got it for!  I still can’t believe we can’t go BUT hope that one of you could take advantage of this great, great deal.  If you know of anyone who may be interested please pass this on.  Thanks.

If you are interested please write back or call Jerry 973-479-4611 or Maryanne 973-270-4127 for more information.

Waterskiing a Splash and a Half

Posted by Maryanne on July 19th, 2007

The absolutely perfect ski day of the year occurred on July 14th at Lake Hopatcong. Craigmeur Ski Club members were blessed with a warm summer breeze, a clear blue sky, and an average temperature of 88 degrees. There was not one thermal sock lost nor goggle fogged! The ever gracious Handsome Glenn and Delightful Debi opened their beautiful home to approximately 40 warm-water-bugs. We spent the entire day waterskiing, tubing, swimming, sunning on Glenn’s saxony lawn, and of course eating and drinking to our hearts’ content. It was akin to a Club Med vacation right in the heart of New Jersey. We’d like to extend a hearty thanks to everyone who brought the amazing food (not junk at all – pretty impressive, folks), the grog (same ol’ junk – impressive in volume only), the speed boats (Glenn’s, Chuck’s, Pat’s, Fred’s, & Mark’s), the skis (all varieties), the crazy tubes (let’s hope Pat’s can be repaired), and the gas (at current prices, a really big thank you).

October 11th General Meeting Highlights

Posted by Maryanne on October 15th, 2006

The general meeting of the Craigmeur Ski Club was once again well attended. Meeting highlights include the following tidbits:

Bob reported that the lodge will be oben on December 15th and Christmas week.

Our club race is tentatively scheduled for March 10th.

Our social calendar is busting at the seams. October 20th is the Jamboree at the Westin Inn in Morristown (7-11pm). Roy is running a booth for the club (he needs volunteers to help man in). The party includes a silent auction & dancing. Please come! October 25th is Membership Night for the club at the Exchange. Oh dear, this is another party. It includes refreshments, a slide show, door prizes, and more. And we’ve been invited to High Life Ski Club’s Halloween party at their lodge scheduled for October 28-29th. They said something about a graveyard??? Our November calendar includes guest speaker Bill Thistle at our regular club meeting on November 1st, our BIG MOVIE NIGHT on November 4th (see this website for more info), and all our regular meetings every Wednesday at the Exchange. December is busy and includes Open House at the lodge December 1-3 and our Holiday Party at the Exchange on December 13th.

Ski instruction for members is still being offered by Karen Blaine.

Maryanne is still offering discount season passes and mult-trip passes to Mountain Creek at group rates.

Chris’s report from ski council was packed with information. Council will be having a booth at Giants Stadium ski sale on December 4-9, Windham Tune-Up day will be December 2nd, and Ski Night at Hidden Valley will be January 18th. There is still availability on St. Anton and Panorama ski trips. Orders for the first round of ski vouchers are due by November 1st.

Three potential new members were greeted and one new member was voted in. Welcome Charles.

Under old business, Roy announced that there are five openings for the Vail Trip on February 24-March 3rd. 27 people are currently signed up to go. He reminded everyone that the BIG MOVIE NIGHT event, Snow Gods, is still selling tickets (albeit slowly) and that club member Bill Jones will be writing about Meathead Productions in his magazine, Snow East. Roy also announced that Special Olympics day at Mountain Creek will be January 29-30th and that he will again be participating. He invited others to do the same. There was a short discussion about which channel to use on walkie talkies (whether to change it). Another discussion was prompted by Christine on how our club could participate in Toys for Tots.

The next meeting will be on October 18th at 8:00 at The Exchange.

October 5th General Meeting Highlights

Posted by Maryanne on October 5th, 2006

Thirty three extraordinary people attended the October 5th meeting at the Exchange. Meeting highlights are as follows:

The lodge will be open this weekend. It will also be open for a variety of special events and activities in the future. Sign-ups for the lodge will, as always, be taken one month in advance.

The social calendar is filling up rapidly. Upcoming events for this month include the Jamboree at the Westin Inn in Morristown on October 20th and Membership Night at the Exchange on October 25th.

In our health and welfare portion of the meeting we learned that Oliver is having back surgery on Monday…we all wish him well and hope he recuperates before it snows.

While there are no ski area reports yet, it was announced that group rate season passes and group rate multi-trip passes to Mountain Creek can be purchased through the club member Maryanne. A link will be set up on the website to enable this…or simply come to a meeting to find out more.

New Jersey Ski Council is running a variety of trips this year…Vail, St. Anton, and Panorama to name a few. Also, discount vouchers to ski resorts in the area can be purchased at Craigmeur Ski Club regular meetings. The first round of vouchers will be purchased by November 1st.

We had three new prospective members at the meeting last night. Welcome.

Under old business it was announced that the Craigmeur Vail trip scheduled for February 24-March 3 has five openings. It was also announced that tickets to Meathead’s premier film, Snow Gods, are currently on sale through this website.

The next regular meeting will be October 11, 2006.
