Last Tuesday a few of our club members enjoyed an evening of indoor rock climbing at the NJ Rock Gym in Faifield. The evening was spearheaded by our own Ken Fox. Our first time rock climbers trusted the expertise of both Ken Fox and Lee DeSantis as belayers to steady the ropes they were dangling on. Lee’s daughter, Heather conquered new challenges although climbing many times before as well as my daughter Lindsey who has never climbed but loved every minute of it. There was Diane Bogert and Olivier Monod who are also newcomers to the sport. They also enjoyed looking down from the ropes and just hoped they would be able to still ski and bike after dangling 40 feet off the ground. Joe Infusino also joined the group and has climbed before. The evening was then capped off with a drink and snack at the Bonefish Grill. I also joined the group as a pure spectator being on the disabled list, but hope to join in the future. “It’s that time again – Baseball Season has begun and the NY Yankees have the best record in baseball in this early part of the season.  Last year we had a great time with a bus trip and game at the new stadium.  This year Craigmeur Ski Club will have the opportunity to tour the New Yankee stadium (1 year old) on Sunday August 29th.  We will start out from the Rockaway Mall on a charter bus and arrive at Yankee Stadium for a 4:00pm tour that will include:  Monument Park, Yankee Museum, Dugout and the Clubhouse and a free Yankee Gift.  We will cap it off with a all inclusive dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe inside the stadium.  The price is $55.00 for adults, $48.00 for Seniors 60+, and $38.00 for children 14 and under.  Get your spots reserved now!!  This event is bound to fill up and sell out quickly.  Payments will be accepted at all club meetings.  Please see the attached flyer for all the details.  See you there, Roy”

The 2009-2010 ski season has sadly come to an end in our region.  I trust everyone got out on the slopes as much as possible and had a great season.  If not, head out West now while the snow is still flying !

It is time to return NJSC vouchers in-hand for next year’s credit.  Vouchers will be accepted through Wednesday May 05, 2010 for return to NJSC for credit toward next year’s vouchers.  Please see Chris Budd or Chris Hartman at any regular club meeting to turn in your NJSC vouchers.

It is that time of the year again and some hearty Craigmeur Ski Club members have signed up to peddle their way through the 5 Boros of New York.  The tour keeps selling out earlier every year.  This year sign ups started February 1st and by February 25th the tour sold out. Approximately 30,000 riders take to the car free streets of New York. This is not a bike race – is a traffic free open road tour.  We are all praying for NO rain this year. Those of us who have signed up for the ride will be meeting at the Dunkin Donuts on Route 46 in Denville at 4AM to caravan to Staten Island to make sure we are on the first ferry at 6AM.  We want to get good parking spots on our usual street in Staten Island just outside Fort Wadsworth.
 
After the ride we will be holding our annual corner street party just outside Fort Wadsworth.  Make sure you bring a folding chair with you.  You might also want to bring another set of clothes to change into after the ride.
