2014 Camping & Rafting Trip – Sign Up Today!

Posted by Mike Rachmiel on May 26th, 2014

Ahoy mateys! Time to put on your tri-corn hat, grab a cask of rum, and put the 9th annual rafting / camping trip on your calendars!

This year our voyage will be Friday, July 11 through Sunday, July 13th, camping with Landers River Trips in Narrowsburg, NY again. Friday night, Craigstock will be setting up tents across the street from the pole barn (aka: party place!). After settling in, relax around the bon-fire with your favorite beverage of choice and the every growing circle of family and friends.

Saturday morning we’ll have a continental breakfast set up next to the pole barn from 8am-9am; juice, coffee, tea, muffins, dry cereal, and fruit. The first bus will leave at 9am sharp to bring everyone who wants to go tubing up to skinners falls for an hour of playing in the rapids. The second bus will leave from camp at 10am with everyone else. After a group photo at 10:45am next to the river, we’ll set adrift in the great open waters of the Delaware river. If you’re bringing your own boat, you can drop it off a skinners falls in the morning and then catch a ride up river on either bus, leaving your car at the camp where our float ends.

We’ll be on the water for about 4 hours so stock your vessel accordingly with lunch or snacks and refreshments. Keep in mind we took on fire from neighboring boats in past years, a water gun (or two) may come in handy for defense (or offense). Watch for one raft in particular that was lobbing heavy artillery half way across the river last year. There is a rope swing out into the river by the rocks on the right hand side of the river across from the camp ground for a last dip before the end of the afternoon.

The BBQ will be set up next to the pole barn around 5pm with burgers, dogs, chicken, salads, chips, and ice cream. The band and bon-fire should be going on around 7pm for dancing (at either one!) and kicking back for the evening . . . night . . . early morning . . . .

Sunday morning will be a mixed breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, cereals, muffins, fruit, coffee, and tea around 9am.

A lot goes into putting this trip together so anyone looking to volunteer to help with cooking, cleaning up and any other tasks along the weekend would be appreciated, please get a hold of either of us at a meeting, email, or call. Please send in registration forms and signed wavers with checks made payable to Landers River Trips for camping and boat rental and a check for $20.00 per person made out to cash for food ($10.00 for kids 5-12yrs). Forms and payment must be in by June 15, so we can get it out to Landers. There will be no refunds after July 3rd.
