Tuxedo Ridge Ski Day – Sat Feb 27, 2010

15 Feb

We will be having our Second Annual Tuxedo Ridge Ski Day for the club on Saturday, February 27, 2010.

Last year 29 members and friends came out for a day of skiing, riding, racing (optional), eating, drinking, and hanging out at Tuxedo Ridge Ski area. Tuxedo Ridge is about 45 minutes from Denville, Rockaway – the first exit on the Thruway.

They will be ready for our arrival at 9:30am, lunch will be at 12:30, and the race will be at 2:30.

Tuxedo Ridge has set up an online signup system for the day. Lift tickets (including the race) are $20/pp. A lunch buffet will be set up for the club the cost is $15 each – the first 50 Craigmeur members to sign up will receive $5 back as a club member discount. Guests and other friends are welcome. Discounts on both rentals and lessons are available.

The direct link to signup for the day is:

Please note, you must click on Feb. 27 then there are TWO options: the first is just for the buffet lunch (no lift ticket needed), you do not have the option to purchase a lift ticket or rentals if you click on this one. The second is Craigmeur Ski Club–here you select the lift ticket then the next page brings you other options to add such as rentals, lessons, lunch, etc.

The big air and cardboard sled events at Tuxedo were moved to a different weekend

This past Saturday was the NJSC annual State race @ Pico, VT. Craigmeur  Race Team shined and had its best results ever, the Women’s team  broke new ground by taking 1st place by 35 seconds, the Men’s team  had an off day but still finished 4th and combined 2nd place finish.

Now some individuals  accomplishments; way to go Anneliese Yombor on taking 1st place for the women’s for the 6thstraight year not counting maternity leaves, Dawn Mazzanti taking 2ndbehind  Anneliese and Kimberly Hollister for cracking the top 10 and taking 9th, was it Kimberly’s ski rental’s for the day or  the 3 years of french fry turns, regardless she smoked some of the Men, counting yours truly. Chris Yombor as his 2nd place finish and missing 1st place by 2 seconds combine.

Also this past Saturday was the 3rdannual Jr. NJSC race @ Pico. We had 5 jr. racers mostly rookies who braved the icy course on B-slope after the adults finished their 1st GS run.

Some of the accomplished were, Meredith Hollister finishing  2ndin the girls class C division, in the boys class C division we had Jake Yombor taking 2ndand Russell Hollister taking 3rd. In the girls class B division we had Brianne Rachmiel taking 2ndplace and Aaron Rachmiel the only snowboarder finishing 4th in the boys class B division.

Overall I like thank all our the participates for showing up and support the Craigmeur race team, we had 4 Women & 9 Men race. Congrats to Eleanor Young on finishing her 1st race, congrats to Justin Stone with his first NJSC state race, to our fearless leader Larry, hopefully next year you’ll complete the course. To Rob & Craig who trained hard the day before better luck next year.

Looking forward to seeing everybody next year!.

Remember if you want to try racing, we still have two WRNL races @ Hidden Valley, February 10 SL and March 3  both starting 7:30pm. Also save the date March 20, 2010 is the SSMMPR @ Hunter MT., the race is a Nastar race similar to our club race and we are looking for racers so Craigmeur can again flex their muscles and win the race. Look for more details later in the month but the fees are approx. $45 for lift ticket, race fee, party w/food & prizes and action picture of yourself racing.
