Split Rock Beginner Biking Event – May 12th, 2012 Recap

12 May

I never had the pleasure of doing this event. However it was worth the effort. Hans Winkler did a superb job running this bike ride. He was able to accommodate both advanced and beginner/intermediate riders as yours truly. Advanced riders followed an additional path for about 5 miles. Overall the ride was challenging yet enjoyable and followed a picturesque route. During the ride we spotted a large beaver lodge in the middle of a lake. The landscape was gorgeous. We viewed a lake and reservoir that was absolutely beautiful.  I was amazed that this recreation area is practically in our back yard.

After our ride we hung out at the parking lot and had some refreshments. As usual the club camaraderie was at its best. It was great to reminisce about our adventure and catch up on what was new with everybody.

I have to say Hans knows a lot of hidden marvels or treasures of N.J. that he has shared with the club. Unfortunately not all upcoming events are posted on this website, instead they are only mentioned during club meetings.  I recommend that everyone attend meetings to find out about unpublished new events or get more information about upcoming published events.
